Support Communication to first responders
The self-sustained communication has been designed in such a way to help emergency responders maintain communications among themselves and to the outside. In the case of a service outage in commercial mobile carriers, dedicated mobile units with programmable SIM cards will receive LTE signals transmitted by the established private LTE network within the campus premises. Such dedicated mobile units have been assigned to the Carbondale Police and Fire Departments. Additionally, a dedicated device has also been provided to SIUC Chancellor's office.
