A dedicated control facility at SIUC Engineering Building E has been established to monitor, control, and manage the overall deployed infrastructure. Customized software monitors the solar panels, storage and relays, LTE base stations, satellite facility, transmission nodes and sensors in the control network, and Internet servers. As a result, administrators can identify malfunctioning units, including solar panels, energy storage facilities, telecommunication devices, control network transmitters, and sensors. PV panels and energy storage units power the operation of the control room under normal conditions, and it remains functional in case of a power outage.
